Hello. I’m Elena, a film director, editor and speaker based in between Como, Italy and Paris, France.

I wear many hats: from producer, to screenwriter, film director, cinematographer, film editor, blogger and public speaker… My mission: to create films and multimedia projects that empower women and girls.

My most notable projects are the feature-length documentary The Illusionists* and the multimedia platform No Country for Young Women**. A conversation with Elian Carsenat about the gender gap in the film industry sparked the idea for Gender Gap Grader. In September 2017, I began creating GIFs of women and minority directors and posting them on giphy.com, with the aim of promoting their visibility. The project is ongoing (as of May 2018, it passed the 100 GIF mark) and has been written about in Mashable, The Huffington Post Australia and A Plus.

The Illusionists* is a feature-length documentary about consumer culture, globalization, and the marketing of unattainable beauty ideals around the world.

No Country for Young Women** is a website whose aim is to celebrate the professional lives of women, providing positive role models for the younger generations. The site features over 120 interviews with women representing five continents, seven decades and more than two dozen professions.
