Trying out the ActivityPub x WordPress plugin for the first time, so I can federate this post.
You have no idea what I’m talking about? I have launched a new blog series called The Future is Federated to introduce the Fediverse to “regular” people. You can find it on my Ghost blog.
See you on the Fediverse!
Elena
P.S.: you can also find me on Mastodon (the Fediverse’s answer to X) at @_elena@mastodon.social and on Pixelfed (the Fediverse’s answer to Instagram) at elenarossini@pixelfed.social
@ele @_elena That a post is pushed to the Fediverse is brilliant, but that the replies are also federated, that is just a little bit mind-blowing.
@ele @_elena @simonjust This journey of discovery might be a good link for https://fediverset.dk .
@ele @_elena Seems cool! ? but why am I getting what seems to be a JSON source view in stead of a WP post when I hit the second link? https://elenarossini.com/2024/07/hello-fediverse/
@jwcph @ele same and no idea… I am not a developer, I only have some basic coding skills and I basically just winged it when it came to manually creating the webfinger file (that was the only way to get the plugin to work). I will look into it!
@jwcph @ele update: I purged the cache and now the post seems to be working ? I hope things stay this way!
@mjj @ele YESSSSSSS INDEED! ??? I had forgotten to check / approve the comments in my WordPress dashboard ?????
It's AMAZING to see them pop up on the site. Like magic, as you said.
I'm taking things a step further and attaching a pic to this reply… and including emojis. Praying I don't mess up my site because… attachments in comments? What?!? LOL
@_elena @ele Still getting this weird view… I'm the same re. developer skills – that's one of the things I like about WP ?
I cleared the cache once again and… no more problems. Does this have anything to do with new pending comments from the Fediverse? Or something else?
I may switch to a different caching plugin. I remember reading somewhere that Matthias Pfefferle had specific recommendations about which caching plugins work well with the ActivityPub plugin. To be continued…
@_elena @ele Also interesting, by the way – on Mastodon hyphens are not allowed in user names, so here I have to be @mjj – but using the account on my self-hosted WordPress, I can be @mj-j .
@ele @_elena Works like a charm!
Yay, thank you for the feedback :)
Replying from the WordPress app on my iPhone – so excited about all these new functionalities
@ele Never realized how cool will be people mentioned on blog posts receiving notifications on the fediverse, you receiving the notification on your mastodon account was a nice surprise ?
@ele this was a great read.@_elena
@ele @_elena I love this. So exciting. And thank you for your excellent evangelism!!
@mike @ele aw thank you Mike! It means a lot coming from you ?
